Chlorine Dioxide and Chlorite

Within the family of chlorination chemistry, it’s easy to get confused with the wide variety of shirt-tailed-cousins of chlorine dioxide. The most popular product mistaken for chlorine dioxide is sodium hypochlorite or common household bleach, like Clorox® brand bleach.

This is courtesy of the Food and Drug Administration’s anti-chlorine dioxide campaign launched against individuals who asserted that chlorine dioxide could be used to cure or treat diseases. The FDA stated in its campaign that chlorine dioxide is equivalent to household bleach and is dangerous, potentially deadly, to drink.

Sodium hypochlorite does a generally good job of disinfecting though it does produce chloramines when exposed to nitrogen compounds considered to be volatile, dangerous, and potentially carcinogenic (may cause or promote the growth of cancer cells). Treating water laden with nitrogenic organic compounds with sodium hypochlorite is not recommended due to the production of chloramines.

There are many chemical members of the chlorine family, each with its own unique set of characteristics. The common characterization is oxidation. Oxidization removes colors from laundry, leaving the result colorless or white.

Sodium percarbonate is another oxidizing bleaching compound that is the salt-based foundation of another laundry bleaching product, which is activated when mixed with water and is known as Oxi-Clean®.

Chlorine dioxide is created by activating sodium chlorite with an acidic agent, such as citric acid, the same that is found naturally in lemons.

Chlorine Dioxide Residual

What is left following the use of chlorine dioxide residual? Not much. And this can be of huge importance in considering whether one might use chlorine bleach or chlorine dioxide.

Chlorine bleach residual includes carcinogenic trihalomethanes (THM) that can be introduced to the environment by being washed down the drain after use, while chlorine dioxide by offering an extra oxygen molecule breaks down to water, oxygen, and table salt. This makes chlorine dioxide far less corrosive than household bleach and is better for the environment.

Chlorine dioxide residual = water + oxygen + salt.

Chlorine Dioxide Droplets

If you are adept at hiking or exploring the outdoors you are probably already well acquainted with chlorine dioxide droplets which are used to purify drinking water in the field. This two-part water purification process is a convenient and easy-to-administer form of water purification which can be used anywhere on demand.

Using chlorine dioxide water purification drops, one can quickly and easily turn questionable surface water into safe drinking water in the field. This makes chlorine dioxide an excellent addition to any safety or first aid kit and is commonly used by the military, on expeditions, by survivalists, and by outdoorsmen of all kinds.

Chlorine Dioxide Liquid for Sale

So, where can I find chlorine dioxide liquid for sale? You will find it in any outdoor supply, like REI, or you can search online for chlorine dioxide water purification drops. You want to pay attention to the different varieties and variations.

Chlorine dioxide will be found on the bottle if your chlorine dioxide liquid is “Chlorine Dioxide Solution” or CDS 3000, where the 3,000 represents the parts per million or PPM. CDS is manufactured via a distillation process and is therefore more expensive in general.

Alternatively, you can make your own chlorine dioxide, and this is the most economical and convenient way to take advantage of chlorine dioxide with a nearly indeterminate shelf life. You can make your own chlorine dioxide by using the following two-part method.

DIY Chlorine Dioxide

How to make chlorine dioxide yourself. Chlorine dioxide water purification drops are often available over the counter in a two-part kit. One part will be a sodium chlorite solution, and the other will be an acidic solution used to “activate” the sodium chlorite.

By combining one drop of Part 1 with one drop of Part 2 (or Part A and Part B, depending on the labeling by the manufacturer) a chemical reaction will result. You can visually notice the combination turning yellow-to-brownish in color. You can also smell the gaseous effect and it will smell like chlorine. After 30 seconds, you have created a chlorine dioxide solution.

Now, you can add it to water to purify it.

Since there are many manufacturers of CDS and chlorine dioxide kits, be certain to follow the instructions that come with your bottle or kit to purify water for safe drinking.

Chlorine Dioxide Side Effects

For occupational hazards of using chlorine dioxide in commercial and industrial applications, check your facility’s Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for specifics. A general Occupational Health Guideline for Chlorine Dioxide can be found here from the CDC.

For those who are using over-the-counter chlorine dioxide water purification drops, there may be side effects from using too many drops at once for whatever reason. Since everyone is different and we all have varying degrees of sensitivity to certain ingredients, if you’re not going to follow the directions, you could suffer adverse reactions.

According to the FDA, if you drink chlorine dioxide, you could encounter life-threatening side effects, including, severe vomiting, severe diarrhea, life-threatening low blood pressure caused by dehydration, acute liver failure, and death after drinking chlorine dioxide.

Even if one follows the directions concisely, one may experience ill effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, or other symptoms, based on one’s sensitivity to the standard number of drops dosage. It is suggested that if one suffers an adverse reaction, one reduces the dose by one-half.

For instance, if you have put two drops in an 8-ounce glass of water and experienced an adverse reaction, then the next time (at least one hour later) try using only one drop in an 8-oz glass. If you still feel like you’re not feeling well, you could reduce the dose to one-half a drop by doubling the amount of water. In this case, one drop in 16 ounces of water.

Be certain to follow the directions on the bottle, and reduce the dose, if necessary, and as the FDA warns, never drink chlorine dioxide straight without diluting per instructed or less if you experience chlorine dioxide side effects.

Clorox Chlorine Dioxide

Is Clorox chlorine dioxide? No, though part of the same family of chemicals, Clorox’s active ingredient is sodium hypochlorite. Chlorine dioxide is a chemical that is derived from mixing sodium chlorite with an acid activator (like citric acid). The resulting mixed gas is chlorine dioxide. Clorox or any other brand or generic brand of bleach is based on sodium hypochlorite, while chlorine dioxide is based on sodium chlorite. These are very different solutions, though they are both utilized industrially as bleaches.

Both non-scented and non-colored Clorox or other bleaches can be used to purify drinking water in an emergency. Chlorine dioxide is more commonly used by the military, scientific expeditions, outdoorsmen, campers, and hikers, to purify surface water, making it safe to drink.

Clorox is fairly good at generally killing waterborne pathogens, such as bacteria, viruses, molds, and protozoans. Where Lorox and other chlorine bleaches fall short in the war for sanitization, is that there are many pathogens that are chlorine-resistant and therefore Clorox or other chlorine bleaches will have little or no effect on them.

On the other hand, chlorine dioxide efficiently kills the following chlorine-resistant pathogens:

Acanthamoeba castellani1, Actinomycetes2, Adenovirus3, Aspergillus niger4, Bacillus Lichenformis5, Bacillus Subtillis6, Biofilm Bacteria6, Campylobacter jejuni7, Clostridium botulinum8, Clostridium perfringens9, Coxsackie Virus10, Cryptosporidium11, E. coli12, Echovirus10, Eikelboom type 021N13, Entamoeba histolytica14, Giardia15, Gram Positive spore forming bacilli2, Hepatitis A16, Klebsiella pneumoniae17, Listeria monocytogenes18, Methylobacterium19, Micrococci2, Mycobacterium chelonei20, Mycobacterium fortuitum20, Noroviruses3, Norwalk Virus3, Polio virus3, Pseudomonas aeruginosa6, Rhodotorula flava20, Rotavirus20, Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium DT10421, SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus/COVID-19 ), Snow Mountain Agent Virus3, Tetrahymena pyriformis1, Thiothrix spp.13, Toxoplasma gondii22, Vibrio Chlolerae21, and Yersinia enterocolytica4.

Other attributes that separate chlorine dioxide from ordinary bleach besides being much less corrosive, include chlorine dioxide’s ability to destroy biofilm, hydrogen sulfides, heavy metals, and harmful metallics.

This is why you find chlorine dioxide in use industrially in everything from municipal water treatment and food and drink processing to hospital sanitization and air filtration systems.

So, to answer your question, is Clorox sodium chloride? The answer is, No. Though they are relatives in the sodium chemical arena.

Chlorine Dioxide Strips

When people search for chlorine dioxide strips, they are most likely looking for chlorine dioxide test strips that are readily available for testing the concentration of chlorine dioxide in water.

How do chlorine dioxide strips work?

Chlorine dioxide strips work like any other chemical testing strip. You dip the strip into the water that you want to test, then retrieve the testing strip that should now have a specific color or shade of color displayed. By holding the strip up to a color chart, you can determine the relative concentration of the chemical in the water. In this case, chlorine dioxide.

Chlorine dioxide strips are available over the counter at many retailers, like Walmart, Grainger, and Amazon.com, as well as scientific/laboratory, swimming pool, and hot tub suppliers.

Taiko Pharmaceutical Chlorine Dioxide

Japanese based Taiko Pharmaceutical announced the results of tests of their patented long-lasting chlorine dioxide aqueous solution (JP5757975B2) for use in the fight against COVID-19. Their results concluded that their patented ClO2 solution defeated 99.99% of the SARS-CoV-2 as well as Alpha and Gamma COVID variants.

The chlorine dioxide test was a joint effort between Taiko Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Kitasato Institute/Kitasato University in Tokyo, Japan.

It has also been reported that chlorine dioxide denatures the spike protein on the surface of SARS-CoV-2 and inhibits its binding to the human ACE2 receptor (*9).

This proves that effective drugs and disinfectants, like ClO2, can and do readily deactivate the viruses, while novel coronavirus disease continues to mutate and spread thus affecting and are potentially life-threatening to millions of humans. Much effort is being exerted to treat society with vaccines that could establish an immunity that will spread amongst the population.

Chlorine Dioxide Is It Safe?

Chlorine dioxide. Is it safe? A reasonable question to ask of any substance unknown to any potential user. In fact, the wise person inquires thusly about any substance before allowing it to enter the body.

Due to the antics of those who have claimed that chlorine dioxide is a cure for just about everything, the FDA issued a warning declaring that chlorine dioxide is unsafe for human consumption, even though it is fully authorized to treat drinking water both municipally and the field and approved for many other uses as well including in the processing of all meats, foods, and beverages.

Taylore V says, “For over 80 years Millions and millions of people have drunk chlorine dioxide as a water purifier during outdoor activities, such as camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, and other activities in the outback! Nobody has ever died from drinking water treated with Chlorine Dioxide”

Why does FDA approve these poisons to be added to commercial foods and drinks?

Yes, the FDA has approved many poisonous food additives that may be questionable (source) that appear in our commercially available food every day, such as

1. Sodium nitrate: Added to processed meats to stop bacterial growth.

NOTE: from NutriNeat  – Dangers of Sodium Nitrate

Some studies suggested that excessive consumption of NaNO3 through foods can lead to certain types of cancers like gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, colorectal cancer, colon cancer, etc. This chemical compound may trigger migraine headaches in people with a migraine history. Increased number of deaths due to Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and Parkinson’s have been attributed to the increased use of NaNO3 in foods. Some researchers argue that sodium nitrate is responsible for damage to DNA, which in turn increases the risk of the aforementioned diseases. By https://nutrineat.com/sodium-nitrate-dangers

The danger of Chemical absorption of propylene glycol: Perhaps the most alarming thing about it is that it’s a “penetration enhancer.” That means it allows stuff to penetrate your skin more easily. If you’re using personal care products on your skin that contain propylene glycol and other chemical ingredients, it will allow more chemicals to enter your bloodstream.

10. Butane: Put in chicken nuggets to keep them tasting fresh.

NOTE: Poisonous Butane is put in fried chicken – Story by Organic Authority

Fried chicken at McDonalds – they add a heaping spoonful of tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), which is a chemical preservative and a form of butane (AKA lighter fluid). One gram of TBHQ can cause “nausea, vomiting, ringing in the ears, delirium, a sense of suffocation, and collapse,” according to A Consumer’s Dictionary of Food Additives. Five grams of TBHQ can kill you.

Then they Sprinkle on thirteen other corn-derived ingredients, and you’re only about twenty shy as many ingredients as a single chicken nugget from McDonald’s. And you were using pulverized chicken skin and mechanically reclaimed meat for your chicken.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans consume these ingredients in Chicken McNuggets, which McDonalds claims are “made with white meat, wrapped up in a crisp tempura batter.”

However chicken only accounts for about 50% of a Chicken McNugget. The other 50% includes a large percentage of corn derivatives, sugars, leavening agents, and other completely synthetic ingredients, meaning that parts of the nugget do not come from a field or farm at all. They come from a petroleum plant. By https://www.organicauthority.com/buzz-news/what-is-in-fast-food-chicken-hint-its-not-chicken

11. Monosodium glutamate (MSG)

“MSG is more common in food than you probably realize” (Healthline.com). Found in fried chicken, pizza, sausage, cheese, most canned and packet soups, seasonings, powdered gravy granules, stock and bouillon cubes, cold meat cuts, prepackaged deli meat, certain bacon products, and pepperoni and cured ham slices. Foods that rely heavily on chemical preservatives to keep them fresh sometimes include monosodium glutamate. MSG preserves the taste of these products no matter how long they have been in the store.

NOTE: The harmful effects of MSG! By global healing

Why is MSG Harmful? The glutamate industry is fully aware of the harmful effects of MSG, that it is a toxic substance. They know that ingesting their toxin can cause diabetes, adrenal gland malfunction, seizures, high blood pressure, excessive weight gain, stroke,  including obesity, central nervous system disorder, reproductive malfunctions, Nausea, Weakness or fatigue, Heart palpitations, Headache, Sweating or flushing, Numbness, Chest pain, Hives, and Swelling of the throat.

If you continue to eat MSG you will experience some of these conditions. How can you eliminate MSG from your diet? By https://explore.globalhealing.com/harmful-effects-of-monosodium-glutamate-msg/

12. Disodium inosinate/ Disodium guanylate: Used in snack foods and is very similar to MSG.

It is a flavor enhancer that can be used in many processed foods to strengthen the “meaty” taste or generate a savory, meaty, or broth-like taste, commonly by combination with MSG or conjunction with disodium inosinate.

NOTE: Bad Side Effects can cause flushing – by Healthy Heart

Flushing as we know is due to the dilation of blood vessels and it causes increased blood circulation. The tremendous increase in blood flow makes the skin appear red. Disodium inosinate can have a direct impact on the blood vessels, causing them to widen, which results in flushed skin. Disodium inosinate tends to mimic the action of glutamate, a neurotransmitter that is known to dilate blood vessels. By https://healthhearty.com/side-effects-of-disodium-inosinate

Additional FDA-approved Poisons

  1. Enriched flour: Used in many snack foods. A refined starch that is made from toxic ingredients.

  7. Olestra: Fat-like substance that is unabsorbed by the body. Used in place of natural fats in some snack foods.
  8. Aluminum: A preservative in some packaged foods that can cause cancer.

Just to name a few.

Chlorine Dioxide Uses in Humans

Though the FDA still warns about how dangerous it is to drink a few drops of chlorine dioxide for health-related reasons and continues to hold a family in jail for allegedly promoting the use of chlorine dioxide to potentially ward off the effects of COVID-19, an approved scientific study concluded that chlorine was likely viable for treating COVID-19 and encouraged the financing of further studies to support the preliminary conclusion, that, “Chlorine dioxide is effective in the treatment of COVID-19.” *

Jim Humble long before COVID-19

So, maybe Jim Humble wasn’t as crazy as the media was persuaded to think he was back in the day, now that many patents have been applied for and many more are still pending all based on chlorine dioxide uses in humans, many like those noted in Humble’s book, The Master Mineral Solution of the Third Millennium.

Chlorine Dioxide Effects

The chlorine dioxide effects as they are represented in Jim Humble’s book may be overstated, as nowadays, he is more in line with his daughter’s summation, that “chlorine dioxide doesn’t heal anything.” Even though hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people, claim to have received miraculous healing and have been cured of incurable diseases by taking chlorine dioxide.

The effects of chlorine dioxide are limited to what it does best to destroy toxins and pathogens just as well from inside the body as on the outside of the body. That is all.

The interesting thing is, according to author Paris Humble, the daughter of Jim Humble, that once the body is clear of these biological blockers of all kinds, the body is free to go about healing itself once the immune system has gained enough prowess to do so.

Chlorine Dioxide Drinking Water Treatment

Chlorine dioxide drinking water treatment appears to be the only effective way for a normal person to have access to MMS-grade chlorine dioxide. Normally, it is available in two formats, a one-two part solution that you mix on-site for purifying water, and a one-bottle solution that is more costly to obtain but is reported to create a better tasting purified water for drinking as opposed to the DIY mix-it-yourself two-part solution.

The one bottle is called Chlorine Dioxide Solution, or CDS 3000, where the 3000 represents the 3,000 parts per million concentration of chlorine dioxide in water (H2O). This is created via the distillation process. Whereas the one-bottle CDS may last a few weeks, the mix-as-you-go two-bottle pack is more likely a 6-month or more supply, as you are only using a drop or more at a time.

Chlorine Dioxide Disinfection Systems

For many years CDS has been used in chlorine dioxide disinfection systems used industrially throughout the world based on its outstanding reputation for being the most effective bactericide on the planet.

In fact, The American Society of Analytical Chemists stated that “Chlorine Dioxide is the most powerful pathogen killer known to man,” 20 years ago, and it has been in use regularly since then.

So, You Want to Give MMS a Go

Be advised that the FDA warns against drinking chlorine dioxide, and so do we. Drinking chlorine dioxide may be dangerous, but if you want to try it for yourself, you are best advised by adhering to the Humbles’ approach. That is to mix a drop of chlorine dioxide into a glass of water and try that first. At the very least, you will be drinking water that is purified from contaminants that may be present in your drinking water.

Jim Humble’s Recipe

One should follow Jim Humble’s recipe if the intention is to have the mixture benefit the inside of the body. You will want to start with purified or distilled water to mix your chlorine dioxide with. Mr. Humble refers to chlorine dioxide as MMS, as you see in the title of his book.

Jim Humble suggests mixing the sodium chlorite with the activator every time you intend to use it, though you could mix several drops into a liter or two of water and sip on it throughout the day, if you like, providing the container is not metal, is well-sealed in between uses, and is not exposed to sunlight.

Otherwise, the mixed drops should not be saved for later use as they tend to lose efficacy over time. CDS 3000 on the other hand can be stored in the refrigerator after opening provided it is well-sealed for up to three to four weeks.

MMS Discovered Accidentally

Interestingly enough, Jim Humble discovered the potential health benefits by seeing dying malaria patients come back to full health following the use of a chlorine dioxide water purifier in about four hours. This was while he was on a mission out of the country. Curious about the reaction, Humble returned to the USA and began to research the healing properties of this water purifier, while his daughter, Paris, watched.

Using volunteers, the Humbles witnessed many health recoveries from a variety of infectious diseases including dengue, herpes, AIDs, dementia, influenza, and other antibiotic-resistant diseases. Jim started his own mission to share his findings with the world, and this simple water purifier found its way into the suitcases, first aid kits, and medicine cabinets of millions of people due to its ability to destroy a variety of infectious organisms while neutralizing toxins.

Paris Humble

Daughter, Paris Humble, releases her book, Healthy Alternative Chlorine Dioxide Uses Non-pharmacological Health Restoration, and while she still honors her father’s references to chlorine dioxide as MMS, since that’s the way she remembers it, she sticks to the more common chemical designation of “chlorine dioxide,” as recognizable in her book’s title.

Since father, Jim Humble’s book was released in 2006, Paris’ 2022 book is considered the latest update.

* The study was registered and accepted in clinicaltrials.gov on April 7, 2020 (NCT 04343742) and falls within the studies categorized as ECE (quasi-experimental studies) by the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information).

What do the FDA, CDC, EPA, and NASA have to say about Chlorine Dioxide Harmful Effects

With the warnings from mostly the FDA, a little from the CDC and EPA, what are the chlorine dioxide harmful effects?

Chlorine Dioxide Harmful Effects

What does the FDA say about chlorine dioxide or MMS?

Since 2010, the FDA has warned consumers about the dangers of Miracle or Master Mineral Solution, Miracle Mineral Supplement, MMS, Chlorine Dioxide (CD) Protocol, Water Purification Solution (WPS) and other similar products.

  1. Consumers should not purchase or drink the product
  2. When mixed becomes a dangerous bleach
  3. Has caused serious potentially life-threatening side effects
  4. Chlorine dioxide is a powerful bleaching agent

FDA reports side effects include

    • Severe vomiting
    • Severe diarrhea
    • Life-threatening low blood pressure
    • Dehydration
    • Acute liver failure

The FDA encourages consumers to talk to a health care professional about treating medical conditions or diseases. Anyone who has ingested MMS with any ill effect should seek immediate medical attention and report to the FDA’s MedWatch Safety Information program as soon as possible at 800-FDA-1088 or www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm.

What does the CDC say about chlorine dioxide or MMS?

    • Jim Humble is a cult leader (See: Jim Humble’s book)
    • MMS is a bleach and dangerous for consumption
    • Chlorine dioxide is a disinfecting agent used industrially
    • The oxidizing effect of CD ends up denaturing organic compounds
    • Promoters of MMS contend that it is a valid treatment for,
      • Various unrelated diseases
      • Autism spectrum disorder
      • Neoplasms
      • Hepatitis, and
      • HIV/AIDS

MMS should not be used in treating any illness, since there is no evidence of its efficacy,

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has received reports of adverse events caused by these products, including respiratory failure due to methemoglobinemia, cardiac arrhythmia due to prolongation of the QT interval, hypotension due to hydro-electrolyte imbalance, acute liver failure, hemolytic anemia, vomiting, and severe acute diarrhea.

What does the EPA say about chlorine dioxide or MMS?

The Environmental Protections Agency (EPA) is well acquainted with chlorine dioxide as it has approved its use for

    1. Disinfectant and sanitizer (1967)
    2. Sterilizer (1988)
    3. Water purifying agent (2004)
    4. Purification of surface water (2006)
    5. Antimicrobial (2006)
    6. Municipal water treatment facilities (2008)
    7. Paper mill pulp treatment (2016)
    8. Approved as hard surface disinfectant for SARS-CoV-2 (2020)
    9. Food additive (2020)
    10. Clinical trial to treat COVID-19 (2021)

Note: In 2006 the EPA registered chlorine dioxide for the purposes of

  • Purification of surface water (4 above) at concentrations up to 4 ppm, is utilized by backpackers and emergency management personnel who obtain surface water from lakes or streams and purify it to create safe drinking water (See: Water purification drops), and
  • The EPA has registered ClO2 as an antimicrobial (5 above) due to its ability to eliminate microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and parasites from surface water, thereby rendering it safe to drink.

According to the EPA, oral ingestion of low doses of aqueous ClO2 in drinking water is not associated with significant adverse effects (EPA September 2020). In fact, human studies have found no adverse effects in individuals who consume drinking water from municipal water treatment plants that use ClO2 as a disinfectant (Michael et al., 1981; Tuthill et al., 1982).

What does the NASA say about chlorine dioxide or MMS?

“Based upon its safety, environmental friendliness, affordability, and ability to destroy a wide range of microorganisms, ClO2 has been termed the ‘ideal biocide’ (Simpson et al., 1993) and a ‘universal antidote’.” (NASA, 1988).

Chlorine Dioxide Therapy

To think of chlorine dioxide therapy as an appropriate response to disease would appear to be nonsensical to a traditionally educated Western doctor. Yet, there are holistic natural alternative specialists who have their patients and clients drinking, sniffing, spritzing, and rubbing chlorine dioxide all over their bodies and they are witnessing miraculous results from chlorine dioxide therapy.

Brief History of Chlorine Dioxide

It wasn’t that long ago that chlorine dioxide was just a simple but powerful surface disinfectant, medical equipment sanitizer, municipal water treatment chemical, and food bactericide used in processing facilities, produce displays at the supermarket, and in restaurants.

Then chlorine dioxide found its way into the hands of regular ordinary people for use as a water purifier in the field for military personnel, outdoorsmen, campers, and hikers. And was also available for treating swimming pools and hot tubs.

Jim Humble

In 1996, something extraordinary took place. A miner from the USA was in Venezuela with a crew when suddenly his camp came down with a sudden formidable case of malaria. The man, Jim Humble watched as his men were dying. There was no way to get medical assistance deep in the Jungle.

Without medical assistance, the best Humble could do was to try to keep them hydrated and comfortable. He treated the local water, which was questionable at best, with a water purifier and provided the resulting liquid to the men.

Surprisingly, the dying men started to feel better and began to recover from malaria. Not one man was lost, and this appeared to be nothing less than miraculous to Mr. Humble.

After returning to the States, Humble committed himself to delve into this two-part water purifier, chlorine dioxide, to see if it might have far-reaching benefits to the medical community.

Could this inexpensive, simple chemical compound have health benefits beyond sanitization?

What Did Jim Humble Discover?

After years of research and safely testing chlorine dioxide on many volunteers, Jim Humble discovered, just as he had theorized, people with the heretofore treatment-resistant or untreatable disease would ingest a few drops of the chlorine dioxide water purifier and recover, just as the men with malaria had.

I’ve Been Cured!

Most, if not all, of Humble’s volunteers, were claiming miraculous health recovery. Many of them had been told there was no hope for them, they would die from their disease, and that death was the only cure. The best the doctors could do was to treat the symptoms in an attempt to make them comfortable before they reached their life’s end.

Hundreds who experienced full release from their disease, proudly shouted from the rooftops, “I’ve been cured!” Overwhelmed by support and encouragement from the former victims of terminal diseases who claimed their delivery from disease was miraculous, Mr. Humble nicknamed chlorine dioxide as Miracle Mineral Solution or MMS for short, and the news spread like wildfire.

Cult Leader Strikes Gold with Bleach

Now, people shouting about a miraculous cure for their terminal disease is not the kind of thing that might be accepted by your family practitioner, and the treating physicians reported the patients and related their stories of “miracle cures” obtained from being told to “drink bleach” from an insane former gold miner turned cult leader. The news spread across media sources that the “gold digger struck gold selling bleach as a cure for terminal disease.”

The MMS Bleach Scam

The next thing you know, the rumors spread about Humble’s bleach healings were a scam to bilk sickly people from their life savings. This and many other false reports of bleach-related healing caught the attention of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States, which published statements against drinking bleach, warning to avoid Humble’s insistence to drink chlorine dioxide, an industrial sanitizer to treat or cure any disease.

What is Really Going On?

The truth of it all was that Jim Humble was theorizing, based on his own study and the results of volunteers and their own testimonials, that it was appearing that it might be time to reconsider what the root cause of any disease was.

What Does Chlorine Dioxide Do?

Prior to Humble’s research, it had been clearly established that chlorine dioxide was a powerful method of keeping all kinds of surfaces and equipment free from contaminants and food and water safe to eat and drink.

The American Society of Analytical Chemists summed it up nicely by saying that chlorine dioxide was “the most powerful pathogen killer known to man.” And we know that it has been used industrially as a way to kill all kinds of viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc. This we know.

What is the Cause of Disease?

Humble’s hypothesis, based on his findings, challenged the very cause of disease. And asked the question,

What if disease was the result of viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc.?

If this were true, that disease was the result of a virus, bacteria, fungus, etc., then by eliminating the virus, bacteria, fungus, etc., the person who had been diagnosed with the disease might have no disease to treat.

His theory concluded with the idea that if chlorine dioxide could eliminate the cause of the disease, the disease would be eliminated as well. Of course, it would be up to the former sufferer of said disease to continue to heal and make the lifestyle changes that would be helpful in continuing to live a high-quality life disease-free.

Bad News for Big Pharma

Humble’s theory could be bad news for big pharma which makes big money on the treatment of the symptoms of disease and uses this money to manipulate the media, and the government, and basically funds life as we know it in the United States of America. To insinuate that disease could be eliminated by a few drops of inexpensive bleach, would destroy the United States and its economy.

Defamation Campaign

The media was influenced by big pharma to discredit Jim Humble and his ludicrous message about “drinking bleach” in any manner possible, exploiting any word, phrase, appearance, or action made by Jim Humble or his followers. And by now, Humble had given them so much food for fodder.

To protect his project, Humble established a church and designated chlorine dioxide as his church’s sacrament, thereby enabling his followers to use it for religious purposes and seeking protection from the separation of church and state. A long history of keywords had already been passed around the media, such as gold miner, miracle, cure, bleach, scam, prophet, profit, sick and dying, incurable disease, and death. And courtesy of the FDA, you can add “poison” to the mix. All of which makes for fantastic mass headline appeal.

Chlorine Dioxide is Not Bleach

First of all, even though sensationalist media reporters like to claim that Humble is hocking bleach, let it be known, as any chemist would know, that chlorine dioxide is not bleach. Chlorine dioxide is very simply 1 atom of chlorine and 2 atoms of oxygen (ClO2). Bleach, on the other hand, is a concoction consisting of ~3-6% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) as its base, to which sodium hydroxide, hydrogen peroxide, and calcium hypochlorite are added.

Admittedly, in the bleach family, the gas from chlorine dioxide is similar to the smell of bleach which accounts for the confusion.

Preposterous Proportions

The accusations in the media are outlandish in that they suggest that Humble was suggesting that sick people should drink bleach, and made it sound like diseased people should drink bleach right out of the container, which is ridiculous.

Humble only suggested that people take one drop or more of chlorine dioxide (not bleach) in a glass of water, not a high concentration, and certainly not pure chlorine dioxide. The caveat that ‘bleach could kill you” remains true, just as anything could kill you, such as chlorine dioxide, or even water, in amounts that are too large for the human body to tolerate.

Note that no one seems to include in their stories that chlorine dioxide is likely keeping your tap water safe to drink and food safe to eat right now.

Chlorine Dioxide Therapy

For better or for worse, the holistic natural alternative specialists and healers practicing on the fringe of Eastern and folk medicine are incorporating the regular use of chlorine dioxide therapy in their practices. Not as a chlorine dioxide sanitizer, but as a method of killing off viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc., that may be affecting the body negatively.

Methods of applying chlorine dioxide (CDS) include diluting at least 1% CDS to 99% water to drink at regular intervals throughout the day, mixing it with a natural penetrant like DMSO for topical application, or even inhale chlorine dioxide gas from freshly combining sodium chlorite and an acid activator (the fastest and least expensive two-part way to make chlorine dioxide on the fly) for respiratory disinfection.

And the Story Continues…

Paris Humble

The next generation of the MMS legacy continues spreading the news about the health benefits of chlorine dioxide. Jim Humble’s daughter, Paris Humble, has released her book, Healthy Alternative Chlorine Dioxide Uses, Non-pharmacological Health Restoration, instantly banned from Amazon.com and other book retailers. In her presentation of chlorine dioxide, she certainly honors the work of her father and his “MMS.” Though is careful to avoid those things that caused her father so much grief in the media.

She avoids being associated with the aforementioned negative keywords and clearly states,

“Chlorine Dioxide does not treat or cure anything.”

Insisting that the only thing it does is what it does very well; to kill off all kinds of viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc., in the body, as well as it does outside the body. She adds that doing so allows the body to do what it is designed to do; to heal itself, free from the virus, bacteria, fungus, etc., that is preventing it from properly doing so.

Chlorine Dioxide for Human Consumption

Who knew that the FDA would be so adamant that people should not be allowed to have access to a substance that touches nearly everything they consume in one way or another? We’re talking about chlorine dioxide for human consumption. Of course, the FDA is right in warning against any drinking of undiluted chlorine dioxide. Chlorine dioxide is approved as a disinfectant, and it is used in all types of food processing to keep the food that we eat clean and free from bacteria and pathogens and is so efficient that the only trace it leaves behind are trace elements of salt. That’s it.

Stabilized Chlorine Dioxide Uses

Of course, it is used in other industries as well.

Chlorine Dioxide Sanitizer

Chlorine dioxide used to be famously popular as an inexpensive disinfectant in hospitals until the suppliers to the medical industry came up with new, more expensive, and patentable formulations that were more profitable to be used in medical sanitization.

Chlorine Dioxide Water Purification

Chlorine dioxide is still used in most municipal water treatment systems as a method of keeping water delivered to homes and businesses safe to drink.

Chlorine Dioxide Water Purification Drops for Outdoors and Travelers

Down to the level of personal use, chlorine dioxide is used in the field as water purifier, to make safe drinking water out of water that may be from a questionable source.

As a water purifier, nothing is more effective or inexpensive than chlorine dioxide to keep drinking water safe and clean from bacteria and pathogens.

Chlorine Dioxide Powerful Pathogen Killer

Over 20 years ago The American Society of Analytical Chemists stated that “Chlorine Dioxide is the most powerful pathogen killer known to man.” This is why it is so effective because it kills all kinds of virus, bacteria, and fungus, and so much more, and it is so safe to use.

What About Pathogens in the Body?

Chlorine Dioxide Detoxification

Science has proven that using chlorine dioxide is also an effective way to round up and release heavy metals trapped inside the human body when consumed in safe dilutions. Chlorine dioxide is a safe and inexpensive way to detoxify the human body.

Can chlorine dioxide safely rid the body of pathogens including virus, bacteria, and fungus as well?

That is the question. And one question that medical providers and pharmaceutical companies do not want to answer or entertain. Why? Because chlorine dioxide is safe, inexpensive, and probably more effective and a broad-spectrum annihilator of most if not all the bugaboos in the human body.

The Chlorine Dioxide Controversy

Therein lies the rub. Since the leading cause of disease is toxins and pathogens, by removing them for a few cents, what would that do to the entire system of healthcare as we know it?

To some it is no surprise that the pharmaceuticals and their government arm, the FDA, is doing everything they can to prevent the human consumption of chlorine dioxide.

Chlorine Dioxide Accident

The efficacy of chlorine dioxide as an alternative health product was discovered quite by accident by a prospector mining gold in Venezuela. His workers came down with severe cases of malaria out in the field and they were dying. The prospector, Jim Humble, had no medicine to treat the men, and they were far from any medical facility without any way to call for help.

Humble tried to keep the dying men comfortable and hydrated by giving them questionable creek water that he treated with chlorine dioxide to make it as safe as possible. Quite miraculously, the workers began to recover and returned to their normal healthy states.

Chlorine Dioxide Inspiration

When Humble returned to the United States, he became scientifically obsessed with the substance and dedicated his life to uncovering the possibilities of using this simple chemical substance as an inexpensive alternative to heal the human condition.

Jim Humble’s Book

His studies, including case studies and testimonials are shared in Jim Humble’s book, The Master Mineral Solution of the Third Millennium. The book was immediately banned from Amazon.com and other publishers and is therefore difficult to obtain, though some independent retailers still carry the book,

Jim Humble Humbled

Admittedly, Jim Humble has been humbled following years of being harassed and attacked by the pharmaceutical companies and their long arm of the law, the FDA. If a do over were possible, he would have released his findings in a more restrained fashion, but he was overly excited about the enthusiastic victims of diseases claiming they were healed completely by using chlorine dioxide as his research had suggested.

One Drop of Chlorine Dioxide

Based on Jim Humble’s research, suffering victims of disease could ingest a glass of water with a single drop of chlorine dioxide, that he referred to as MMS an acronym for Miracle Mineral Solution. Based on an individual’s reaction to the drop of MMS in the glass of water, the sufferer could adjust the number of MMS drops in the glass either more or less depending on their reaction.

One Couple, Chlorine Dioxide and Lyme Disease

One story of a Dr. of Health and Nutrition and his wife’s complete recovery from their incurable chronic Lyme disease is documented in the husband’s story of their experience using chlorine dioxide in, Lyme Disease Non-Medical Diagnosis and Treatment: How I Kicked Chronic Lyme disease in One Year for Pennies by Dr. of Health and Nutrition, Herb “Roi” Richards.

Chlorine Dioxide Reactions in the Body

The reaction of concern were the symptoms of detoxification which were undesirable to say the least. As with any detoxification process, negative reactions could be experienced depending on the toxicity of the human body in question when applying a detox. Karl Herxheimer is credited with discovering these adverse reactions when detoxifying syphilis patients, and this group of negative symptoms due to detoxification are named after him as the “Herxheimer Reaction.”

Managing the Herxheimer Reaction

Humble empowered those experiencing Herxheimer reactions by individuals trying chlorine dioxide by encouraging them to cut back on the drops until the negative reactions were tolerable. Common Herxheimer reactions include nausea, headache, fever, tremors, tearful eyes, runny nose, vomiting, and diarrhea, among others. Reducing the drops, even to a fraction of a drop in a glass of water would minimize the negative side effects to a threshold tolerable by the sensitive individual.

Richards notes that the Herxheimer reaction is not a reaction to the substance, in this case chlorine dioxide, but to the killing off of so many pathogens at once. The body recognizes the rapidly growing population of dead pathogens as immediately dangerous to the body and responds in an emergent manner to dispose of the trash in any way possible.

Paris Humble

Based on her father’s work, Jim Humble’s daughter, Paris, continues to carry the torch of chlorine dioxide as a natural alternative though she is more cautious about how she delivers the information. In Paris Humble’s book, Healthy Alternative Chlorine Dioxide Uses Non-pharmacological Health Restoration, she states that, “Chlorine dioxide does not cure anything.” She goes on to insist that, “The human body is designed to heal itself,” and eliminating the toxins, pathogens, virus, bacteria, and fungus from the body that are preventing the body from healing itself is what using chlorine dioxide is all about.

Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO

Jim Humble, Paris Humble, and Herb Roi Richards all agree that combining chlorine dioxide with DMSO is a winning combination, allowing the individual to deploy the MMS trandermally, through the skin. By combining the two ingredients and applying them topically, you can achieve the same result as if it were IV. Herb Richards, the author of DMSO Dimethylsulfoxide for Humans, Recipes & Treatment, calls this injectionless administration of MMS.

Richards says to mix and apply chlorine dioxide with DMSO mix three times the quantity of DMSO with the amount of chlorine dioxide to be administered. Rub on and around the intended area of treatment, continue to rub until smooth. Be careful not to cover or contaminate the area treated for 10 minutes. Afterward, you can rinse with cold water, apply ointment, or cover with clothing.

Using Miracle Mineral Solution in your Kitchen is a Healthy Decision

by Virginia Pipolini

Note: MMS is now being called Water Purification Drops.

Around the world, there are federal and local health authorities who have studied and approved the use of sodium chlorite to treat water and reduce bacteria and other harmful pathogens in processed meats and foods. Sodium chlorite is cost-effective, and you can use this powerful purifying mineral in your home.

One bottle of “Water Purification Drops” or as it used to be called: MMS, or Miracle Mineral Solution, can last a very long time, and when mixed with an inexpensive activator such as vinegar, it produces chlorine dioxide. This solution can be thinned with water and used for cleaning and sterilizing your home. Just put it in a spray bottle for disinfecting the kitchen sink.

News confirms that MMS is being used — Chlorine dioxide is used to purify the water throughout the world and normally sodium chlorite is a chemical that is used to generate chlorine dioxide. It would probably be more economical for you to buy 100 pounds of sodium chlorite since it will last you for 20 years. If you were to make a 28% solution of MMS (sodium chloride), you can use 1 drop per gallon of water about once a week. That should kill the mosquitoes and everything else in the water. For water purification, it is not necessary to activate the MMS since the water will activate it.

When you use Miracle Mineral Solution or MMS, in the kitchen you only need a few drops each day for many uses and applications. Mix a few drops of MMS with a 10% citric acid solution as an activator, and give it a couple of minutes to mix. You can then dilute it with water, add it to your sprayer bottle, and you will have a powerful, safe purification system ready for use.

What kitchen uses are there for the sodium chlorite solution produced by MMS? You can soak your sponge and scrubbers in an MMS solution, thereby reducing the bacterial count. Sponges are notorious for holding and growing bacteria and most sponges remain in use far beyond the safe use period.

The solution you make using your Miracle Mineral Solution activated mix can be used to sterilize counters as well as your sink. We have all heard how important it is to sterilize the working surfaces in your kitchen after handling raw meat. It is just as important to cleanse your hands as well, both before and after handling raw meats. Use your sprayer to mist working surfaces, knives, and sink. You can even spray the meat itself, just as they do in those packaging facilities. Chlorine dioxide dissipates into salts and water, and nothing more.

A good spray bottle: Keep the mister with your miracle mineral solution mixture handy for cleaning your hands before you grab that bowl or glass out of the cupboard. This easy-to-mix, cost-effective solution will not hurt healthy skin cells but will attack the bacteria and other pathogens you may have picked up from keyboards, doorknobs, and pets.

When you mix Miracle Mineral Solution with the citric acid activator it will last for weeks as a disinfectant. This means you will want to mix a new solution, using only a couple of drops of MMS each month, something easily done. Use this spray throughout the day to maintain your healthy kitchen. When done you can pour the leftover into your pet water bowl to purify the water and the bowl as well.

Jim Humble and Andreas Kalcker MMS and Chlorine Dioxide

Jim Humble started his research into the health benefits of chlorine dioxide in 1996. His research was based on a water purifier used in the field to save the lives of people dying of malaria in the wilderness. As he continued to investigate the CDS substance he referred to it as MMS or Master Mineral Solution.

Andreas Kalcker and Jim Humble Chlorine Dioxide and MMS

Purchase Chlorine Dioxide

It is impossible to find MMS for sale and it can be difficult to purchase chlorine dioxide as it is not likely to be found at your local convenience store, or even the hardware store. Some reported to have found chlorine dioxide in the proper two-part dilutions at pool supply and extreme outdoorsmen-type stores. Otherwise, searching online for two-part chlorine dioxide water purification drops will probably end you up in the right ballpark.

Why Water Treatment Drops?

Why water treatment drops? Because the use of chlorine dioxide in water treatment is protected by FDA patent number #US5965004A for safely disinfecting municipal water for drinking. It is not available as a health supplement or otherwise approved for human consumption, though it has been readily available as water purification out in the field, when access to clean drinking water is unavailable.

In fact, that is how Jim Humble, author of The Master Mineral Solution of the Third Millennium discovered it.

Paris Humble, author of, Healthy Alternative Chlorine Dioxide Uses Non-pharmacological Health Restoration (2022), recalls the days when her father, Jim Humble and Andreas Kalcker were working together on how to work with MMS and animals.

The Story of Jim Humble’s MMS Discovery

Andreas Kalcker recites Jim Humble’s story as, “Jim Humble, an engineer who worked in gold prospecting and who by chance seems to have found a cure for one of the world’s worst infectious diseases, malaria.

“While prospecting for gold in the Guiana jungle and approximately 400 miles from any hospital and in the middle of the jungle, his team fell ill with malaria. Not having foreseen this possibility, they did not carry medications that could relieve them. The only thing Jim Humble had was a drinking water disinfectant called stabilized oxygen which is sodium chlorite (NaClO2). In the end, he decided to give a few drops to his people, who had a fever of over 40 ° C and were delirious in the midst of a malaria attack. His surprise was that after four hours, Jim found everyone gathered around the fire recovered from one of the worst infectious diseases in the world, as if nothing had happened. Shortly after, he fell ill with malaria and the MMS also worked.

“We share a great friendship and the fact of investigating, each in his own way, about chlorine dioxide, in a very deep way for many years.

“Thanks to its discovery I was cured of Arthritis and it was the basis for the development of the CDS which is a version of the pure gas without contaminants like chlorite that cause unwanted side reactions.” https://andreaskalcker.com/en/cds-clo2.html

The Universal Antidote

There is a free documentary that you can watch online often sought for as chlorine dioxide universal antidote. The documentary claims to disclose the science and story of chlorine dioxide. According to research, NASA proclaimed that chlorine dioxide was considered a universal antidote in 1987. They go on to report that since that time, thousands have recovered from illness using this substance, and now many physicians and scientists are saying it is powerfully effective for many applications.

The documentary explores the history, safety, and efficacy of the universal antidote and provides interviews with physicians and people who have used it. You can watch The Universal Antidote online at: https://theuniversalantidote.com

Both Paris Humble and Andreas Kalcker are fond of the CDS version of chloride dioxide solution over the Part 1 and Part 2 mix of MMS. CDS 3000 is the pre-mixed 3,000 parts per million (CDS 3000 PPM) that is manufactured via distillation process. Reportedly it tastes better and has (little or) no side effects.

The Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO Patch

The Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO patch is an effective intermediary intervention that effectively addresses issues associated with the epidermis including (but not limited to) skin diseases and infections, MRSA, cancer, and other types of tumors and diabetic ulcers, just to name a few.

How to Make a Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO Patch

  1. Activate 10 drops of chlorine dioxide with 10 drops of 50% citric acid in a dry, clean glass bowl.
  2. Wait 30 seconds
  3. Add 10 drops of purified water
  4. Mix in 10 drops of DMSO
  5. Pour MMS/DMSO solution onto and allow it to be absorbed by a cotton gauze pad
  6. Cover the target area with the patch and hold it in place for seven minutes
  7. Remove the patch following seven minutes to check for reactions of the skin. If negative reactions are present (burning or itching) reduce the mixture by 50%. Reapply and check after another seven minutes.
  8. If the dose can be tolerated without a negative reaction, hold the next patch in place for a full 15 minutes.
  9. Repeat applying fresh patches every 15 minutes

Caution: Avoid using tape to hold the patch in place as it may react with the DMSO and pull the glue into your body.

If negative side effects such as irritation to the skin is present when applying the Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO Patch, dilute the MMS/DMSO solution by adding 10 drops of purified water. Continue dilution by adding 10 drops of purified water to the mixture until the concentration can be tolerated without negative side effects.

Additional patches or larger patches will require greater amounts of MMS/DMSO solution which can be made based on the area addressed.

The Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO Patch for Sensitive Skin

Here are some adjustments you can make to the Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO Patch to accommodate skin sensitivities or children.

  1. Begin with a 5 to 5 ratio of chlorine dioxide and DMSO
  2. Add 10 drops of water for dilution
  3. Check the first patch application after five minutes for skin sensitivity. Dilute the mixture with another 10 drops of water, if you notice a negative reaction.
  4. Two hours later, apply another patch and hold in place for 15 minutes.
  5. If there is no skin irritation present, hold another patch in place for another 15 minutes, if desired.

Note: Following any application of the Chlorine Dioxide and DMSO Patch for Sensitive Skin there is an indication of a negative skin reaction, dilute with another 10 drops of water prior to the next application.
